Remember the excitement you felt when you were a kid watching airplanes take off and land at your local airport? Do you remember what inspired you to become a pilot? For many pilots, the inspiration to fly came at an early age, often after being exposed to the sights and sounds of an airport. An aviation-themed playground near a busy airport might be the key to unlocking the imagination of kids and inspiring future Delta pilots. That park has become a reality for the city of Kennesaw in Georgia and we are proud to be part of the park’s grand opening.

The city of Kennesaw is opening Aviation Park, an airplane-themed playground next to the Cobb County International Airport. The $2.75 million dollar playground will include an airplane viewing area, a mock runway and aircraft themed playground equipment.

The Delta Pilot Network is seeking Delta pilot volunteers to help represent Delta Air Lines and ALPA during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, Nov. 10 for the park. Our pilot volunteers will be promoting careers in aviation as well as showing their own enthusiasm for everything aviation by leading a paper airplane competition and paper airplane design contest – with prizes! Volunteers should wear their uniforms to take photos with the kids and speak to attendees about careers in aviation.

The ribbon cutting event is on Friday, November 10 at 10am. If you’re interested in attending, contact and the event coordinator will reach out to you with additional details. Volunteers should arrive in full winter uniform around 9:45am and expect to stay two hours. Volunteers are invited to bring their families as well. The park is located at 2659 Barrett Lakes Blvd., Kennesaw, GA.
