Take the elevator to the very top, then walk up two flights of stairs and find yourself having a drink with the best view of Columbia. Very cool spot for sunsets. Cheap drinks but limited menu.
Take a step in the opposite direction from the Roof Top and descend into The Whig. This dank basement dive bar is a favorite among local hipsters as well as visiting politicians. Great pub grub, small plates, and drink specials.

South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum
One of the best displays of Confederate artifacts in the country. Other interesting exhibits as well. Definitely worth a visit.
South Caroline State Museum
Housed in a former textile mill, this museum has plenty of things to see to kill a few hours of your layover. Check it out.
